Children in rural Al Haouz will get more school supplies and access to digital learning as Orange Morocco expands its education programme in the province. The company will distribute 4,000 school backpacks this year, up from 2,660 in 2025. It will also add 15 primary schools to its Digital Schools network, taking the total to 86 schools. The programme will include 15 robotics clubs. Fourteen will be based in Digital Schools, while another will be set up at a Dar Taliba, a boarding home for girls from rural areas.
Orange Morocco has trained 160 teachers since 2022 to use digital tools in their classrooms.
The programme also includes work in Anamrou, a rural village in Al Haouz. About 600 people will benefit from the new facilities, which will provide access to primary education and training for women.
The women’s centre will offer practical training in beekeeping, artisan cheese-making and the processing of aromatic plants. The activities are designed for the local mountain climate and could help women develop small businesses.
Each Digital School can receive between 25 and 50 tablets, along with a central server containing educational software, projectors and charging stations. The learning material works offline and follows the primary-school curriculum.
Orange employees also take part through the Khatwat Khir volunteer programme. They help distribute supplies, run digital training sessions and support work in rural communities.
The programme comes as schools across Al Haouz continue to recover from the 6.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the area in September 2023.
The earthquake badly damaged hundreds of rural schools and disrupted education for thousands of children. A wider government programme is rebuilding and upgrading more than 1,000 damaged schools across Al Haouz, Chichaoua and Taroudant.
