Moroccan participation in the Tokyo Paralympic Games was “exceptional” and “historic”, said the president of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Sports for People with Special Needs, Hamid El Aouni. The results of Moroccan athletes at the Tokyo Paralympic Games are very satisfactory, as they won 11 medals gleaned (4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze), in addition to two world records and one Paralympic record, he said upon the arrival on Wednesday of the Moroccan delegation at Mohammed V airport in Casablanca.
These results are the result of long-term work and intense training, said the head of the Moroccan delegation, noting that these performances allowed the Kingdom to rank 30th out of 78 medal-winning nations in Tokyo. “I dedicate this result to HM King Mohammed VI may God assist him and to all the Moroccan people,” he added.
These good results are also the result of efforts made by the various federations that took part in these games and of the medical, technical and administrative staff, despite the specific health conditions linked to the COVID-19 pandemic, he pointed out, underlining the imperative to continue on the same momentum in order to honor the national colors at the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024. In Tokyo, the Moroccan champions won 4 gold medals thanks to El Amine Chentouf, Abdeslam Hili, Zakaria Derhem and Ayoub Sadni, 4 silver medals through Fouzia Ksioui, Yousra Karim, Mohamed Amguoun and Azeddine Nouiri, while Hayat El Garaa, Saida Amoudi and the national football 5-a-side team offered the Kingdom three bronze medals.
