Moroccan users of PayPal now have a faster and simpler way to access their funds, thanks to a new partnership between the global payment platform and local fintech leader Cashplus. The collaboration introduces an entirely digital solution that allows users to instantly withdraw their PayPal earnings in dirhams via a mobile app—eliminating the traditional hassles tied to cashing out in Morocco.
Previously, transferring PayPal funds in the country was often a complicated process involving in-person visits, paperwork, and third-party fees. This new service changes the game: no more trips to an agency, no more bank forms—just a few taps on a smartphone and the money is ready to use. It’s a first-of-its-kind offering in the Moroccan market, tailored to meet the needs of a growing digital workforce.
Designed especially for freelancers, content creators, e-commerce sellers, and other digital professionals, the service aims to simplify access to international income. Otto Williams, a senior PayPal executive for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized that this partnership embodies PayPal’s mission to provide financial tools that are not only inclusive and user-friendly but also aligned with today’s digital habits.
Morocco’s digital economy is rapidly gaining momentum, powered by a connected population of over 18 million internet users. The digital payments market alone is projected to exceed $14 billion by 2025, with expectations it could more than double within the next five years. Against this backdrop, the Cashplus-PayPal alliance emerges as a strategic catalyst for broader financial access and participation in the global economy.
Beyond its technical innovation, the initiative supports Morocco’s National Financial Inclusion Strategy, which aims to integrate 75% of the adult population into the formal financial system by 2030. By allowing workers to receive income from abroad without the need for an international bank account, the service answers a growing demand among Morocco’s digitally connected professionals.
For Nabil Amar, CEO of Cashplus, the move marks a key milestone in the company’s evolution. “This partnership enables us to provide young Moroccans with a quick, secure, and locally adapted withdrawal tool—directly from their phones. It’s a step forward toward a more accessible and streamlined financial experience,” he said.
This collaboration also reflects PayPal’s broader global strategy of deepening its presence in emerging markets through targeted local partnerships. The goal: to connect more people to the international financial ecosystem and support inclusive growth through tech-driven solutions.
