Travellers flying between Brazil and Morocco will have more options, as Royal Air Maroc (RAM) adds another weekly flight between São Paulo and Casablanca. The new service, launched on Thursday, brings the number of weekly direct flights between the two cities to five. The airline plans to offer daily flights from São Paulo by 2028 and launch a new route to Rio de Janeiro by the end of 2027.

The expansion comes less than two years after the Moroccan national carrier returned to the South American market. It is part of a wider growth plan aimed at strengthening its presence in Brazil and making it easier for passengers to connect to more than 100 destinations across Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia through its Casablanca hub.

“Offering more flights means opening the doors of Morocco even wider and making it easier for travellers who want to discover the country or reach the rest of the world through our Casablanca hub,” said Othman Baba, Royal Air Maroc’s regional director for South America.

The additional flight is operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. It comes as demand for the route grows and ahead of the European winter season, an important period for Brazilian tour operators and travel agents.

Passengers can now fly from São Paulo on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights from Casablanca operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The route carried around 80,000 passengers in both directions in 2025. On average, 84% of seats were filled, while 98% of flights arrived on time.

The expansion also reflects growing travel between Brazil and Morocco. The country welcomed a record 19.8 million international tourists in 2025, including 60,000 Brazilian visitors. That was a 35% increase compared with 2024.

The additional flights come as Morocco invests in major infrastructure and urban transport projects ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which it will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

Royal Air Maroc is also going through a major expansion. The airline is a member of the global Oneworld alliance and has a four-star rating from international aviation rating organisation Skytrax.

Its 2023-2037 strategic plan aims to grow its fleet to 200 aircraft and increase annual passenger numbers to 32 million. The airline carried 7.5 million passengers in 2024.

RAM is also looking to reduce its environmental impact. In 2025, it operated its first flight using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), an alternative to conventional jet fuel.
