Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has been voted the best airline in Africa at the Global Traveler Magazine’s 18th annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards.
The prize was awarded to the Moroccan airline at Global Traveler’s annual awards ceremony on December 14, in Los Angeles, says RAM in a statement.
In the same survey, Royal Air Maroc was also ranked fourth best airline in the Middle East and North Africa region, outperformed only by Etihad Airways, Emirates and Qatar Airways.
The GT Tested Reader Survey, a prestigious poll in the airline industry and luxury tourism, was conducted by Global Traveler, an international monthly publication focusing on business and luxury travel. More than 20,000 magazine subscribers took part in the vote at the 18th edition of the GT Reader Survey.
“We are happy and honored to receive this prestigious award, and to be recognized as the best airline in Africa,” said Hamid ADDOU, Board Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, quoted in the statement.
He added that “this prize is a straightforward testimony by our customers from across the world and a recognition of the daily efforts of our 4000 employees to offer the highest standards of service, safety, and comfort, throughout the whole customer experience.”
“This Global Traveler Awards motivates us above all to continue to move forward and improve ourselves, despite the difficult times that our sector is going through”, stressed Addou.
This distinction came in a series of awards recently earned by Royal Air Maroc. In 2019, Skytrax ranked the Moroccan airline as Best Regional Airline in Africa for the 6th year in a row. The company also maintained its 4 star Skytrax label. Highly coveted by airlines, the Skytrax award is a world renowned award in the airline industry.
Also, in 2020, Royal Air Maroc joined Oneworld, an airline alliance that was named the same year as Best Airline Alliance.
This award fostered the leadership of the alliance. Afterwards, Oneworld was named World’s Best Airline Alliance by Skytrax in September. Two months later, the same alliance won the title of Best Airline Alliance in the Best Business Travel Awards by Business Traveler USA.
