Ismael Saibari had a strong start to life at Bayern Munich. He helped Jamal Musiala score, then rushed to help him moments later when the Germany international collapsed on the pitch. Bayern beat RB Leipzig 3-1 in the Telekom Cup. The result, however, was overshadowed by Musiala’s sudden collapse in the 84th minute.

Saibari came on in the 69th minute for his Bayern debut after joining from PSV Eindhoven this summer.

He helped create Bayern’s third goal in the 81st minute. Musiala finished the move to put Bayern 3-1 ahead.

Three minutes later, Musiala suddenly became dizzy and fell to the ground. No Leipzig player was near him at the time.

Saibari and Joshua Kimmich quickly moved towards him. Saibari helped catch Musiala and supported his head while the medical team came onto the pitch.

The match was played in temperatures of around 33C. German newspaper Bild reported that Musiala felt dizzy and may have suffered from circulation problems caused by the heat.

Medical staff treated him on the pitch before helping him to his feet. Musiala then walked off with the help of Bayern’s medical team.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said the main concern was Musiala’s condition.

“The most important thing is that he is fine. There is nothing to say about anything else.”

Another setback for Musiala?

Musiala has had a difficult year since suffering a serious injury during the Club World Cup in July 2025.

The injury included a fracture of the fibula. He spent several months out before returning in January, but then suffered another problem with his ankle.

Musiala later had surgery to remove a metal plate from his left foot. He also missed Bayern’s training camps in Tegernsee and Asia while working on his recovery. He returned to full team training only last week.

Musiala recently spoke about the difficult period. “Although it has been difficult at times, I have learned a lot this year.”
