Sanlam Maroc wants to change its name to SanlamAllianz Maroc as the insurer moves ahead with the integration of the Sanlam and Allianz partnership in Morocco. The proposal will be put to shareholders during an Extraordinary General Meeting scheduled for 8 July.

The change still needs approval from Morocco’s insurance regulator, ACAPS. If approved, the company will amend its bylaws to officially adopt the new name.

Sanlam Maroc said shareholders will vote on the proposal at the meeting on 8 July.

The planned rebranding follows a wider deal between Sanlam and Allianz, which combined their operations across Africa outside South Africa. The partnership brings together Sanlam’s strong presence across the continent and Allianz’s global insurance expertise.

The move is part of a broader effort to create a single identity for the group’s businesses in African markets where the joint venture operates.

Shareholders who wish to attend the meeting or appoint a representative must be registered in the company’s records at least five days before the meeting. Requests for voting and proxy forms must be submitted by 6 July via the company’s dedicated shareholder email address.

The agenda also includes approving the legal steps needed to implement the name change.

Under Moroccan law, shareholders who meet the required conditions may also ask for additional draft resolutions to be added to the agenda. Requests must be sent to the company’s headquarters by registered mail within 10 days of the publication of the meeting notice.

Any change will only take effect after receiving final approval from ACAPS, which oversees Morocco’s insurance sector.

The company has a share capital of 411.7 million dirhams and is headquartered on Boulevard Zerktouni in Casablanca.
