Sothema expands its drug pipeline with 23 new dossiers and 37 approvals while sales and profits rise in the first half of 2026.

Sothema had a strong first half of 2026, with higher sales, higher profit and a much larger pipeline of new medicines. The Moroccan pharmaceutical company increased its turnover by 16% to 1.795 billion dirhams in the first six months of the year. Group share net income rose by 11% to 215 million dirhams.

The company also invested heavily while reducing its debt. Investment reached 111 million dirhams, up from 28 million dirhams in the first half of 2025. The spending went towards expanding industrial capacity and acquiring the commercial rights to Eli Lilly’s CIALIS brand.

Sothema cut its consolidated net debt by 152 million dirhams compared with December 2025. Debt stood at 681 million dirhams at the end of June.

The company also built up its pipeline for future product launches. It submitted 23 new regulatory dossiers during the first half of the year. Eleven were for Morocco and 12 were for international markets.

Sothema received 37 marketing authorisations or registration certificates during the same period. Nineteen were in Morocco and 18 were abroad.

The company launched three new products in Morocco during the first half of the year. Two were cardiology products and one was an oncology product.

The number of regulatory submissions and approvals is much higher than the number of products launched so far. The pipeline is intended to support future launches across the markets where Sothema operates.

The company plans to continue expanding its product range during the second half of 2026. Its plans include adding new proprietary products and licensed molecules to the Moroccan market.

Sothema is also focusing on chronic diseases, specialty products, renal health, wellness and consumer health.

The company plans to expand further in Africa and the Middle East. It will use its manufacturing capacity, product portfolio and new partnerships to support this expansion.

Sothema is also continuing to look at external growth opportunities, including potential acquisitions or other transactions.

The results come as pharmaceutical companies in Morocco face growing pressure to strengthen local medicine production while expanding into regional markets. Sothema has built its business around manufacturing, its own drug portfolio and licensing agreements with international pharmaceutical companies.
