In response to the severe floods and torrential rains that hit several regions in Morocco, the Ministry of Equipment and Water has launched an urgent operation to restore traffic. This large-scale effort has mobilized significant resources to reopen blocked roads and ensure the safety of affected communities.
In an official statement, the ministry announced that nearly 200 personnel and 96 pieces of heavy machinery were dispatched to the most impacted provinces, including Zagora, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Tata, Midelt, Taroudant, Guelmim-Assa Zag, Figuig, and Chichaoua. The teams have been working around the clock to clear debris and repair the infrastructure damaged by the floods.
By Sunday at 3 p.m., authorities had managed to reopen 22 roads, including 4 national highways, 7 regional roads, and 11 provincial routes. However, 16 other roads remain blocked, and crews are tirelessly working to restore access.
Tata, one of the hardest-hit areas, has received special attention from the ministry, with additional teams and equipment being deployed to speed up the recovery process. The ministry emphasized that all necessary human and material resources are being mobilized to reopen roadways as quickly as possible, ensuring safe travel for residents and relief operations.
