Tanger Med Port Authority (TMPA) plans to take joint control of Portnet, Morocco’s online platform for import and export procedures. It will buy a 44.07% stake in the company through a capital increase and share control with the National Ports Agency (ANP).

Portnet, based in Casablanca, is the country’s national online platform for foreign trade. It lets businesses complete import and export paperwork in one place instead of dealing with customs, ports, banks and government offices separately.

The platform was launched in 2012 by the ANP. Today, it is used by more than 50,000 people and organisations, including importers, exporters, freight companies, banks and government departments.

The move comes as Portnet expands its digital services as part of Morocco’s 2025 to 2027 foreign trade plan.

In May, the company launched the Moroccan National Portal for Foreign Trade Procedures. The new website brings together 22 government services and serves more than 100,000 users. The government says it hopes the system will cut processing times by up to 50%.

Portnet has also introduced a paperless service that lets importers upload all customs documents online. It has linked its system with the National Office for Food Safety (ONSSA), helping speed up food safety checks and certificates.

The company is also expanding into air cargo through its Portnet Cargo service. The aim is to connect ports, airports and logistics zones through one digital system.

Portnet won the Customer Service of the Year 2026 award in the public services for businesses category for the second year in a row.

Morocco’s foreign trade was worth nearly 1.3 trillion dirhams, showing the importance of the platform to the country’s economy.

The planned deal also brings together Morocco’s two biggest port authorities. Until now, Portnet has mainly been managed by the ANP, which oversees every Moroccan port except Tanger Med. Bringing Tanger Med into the company is expected to create one digital system for trade and logistics across ports including Tanger Med, Jorf Lasfar and Agadir.

The partnership was confirmed through a three-party agreement signed in Casablanca. It clears the way for Tanger Med to become a shareholder in Portnet and manage the platform together with the ANP.
