Police and Customs at the Tangier-Med port arrested, on Monday, a 54-year-old individual, for his alleged links with a criminal network active in the international trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.
In a statement, the national police (DGSN) said that the suspect was arrested on arrival aboard a boat from a Spanish port, adding that searches carried out inside the cabin of his Spanish-registered vehicle led to the seizure of 2 kilograms and 85 grams of cocaine, in addition to a sum of money in euros which could be originated from this criminal activity.
The suspect was taken into custody for investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in order to determine the possible local and international ramifications of this criminal act, the statement added.
This operation is part of the intense and continuous efforts carried out by the DGSN to combat international drug trafficking, according to the statement.
