Moroccan construction company TGCC plans to take joint control of SAFETTRAS, a company that specialises in foundation and ground work, alongside its current shareholders Salah El Mouda and Khali Moulay Lhassan.
The deal is still waiting for regulatory approval, including approval from Morocco’s Competition Council.
SAFETTRAS is based in Dar Bouazza, near Casablanca. The company carries out specialist foundation work and improves ground before construction starts. Its work includes piling, retaining walls, ground stabilisation and concrete injection. These services are often needed for large building and infrastructure projects.
TGCC said SAFETTRAS’ existing shareholders, Salah El Mouda and Khali Moulay Lhassan, will remain partners in the business after the deal.
The move would allow TGCC to carry out more specialist work itself instead of relying on subcontractors during the early stages of construction.
TGCC is one of Morocco’s biggest construction companies. It builds hotels, commercial and industrial buildings, government offices, airports, stadiums, hospitals and schools.
The planned takeover comes as Morocco’s construction sector continues to grow, helped by major infrastructure projects and preparations for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
If approved, the deal would combine TGCC’s construction business with SAFETTRAS’ technical expertise, putting the group in a stronger position to compete for large public and private projects.
The transaction remains subject to the usual regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Council.
