Tinci to build $250M battery electrolyte plant in Morocco

Chinese company Tinci Materials is set to invest over 2.5 billion dirhams in a new industrial facility in Jorf Lasfar, focused on producing electrolytes for LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. The agreement, recently finalized with Moroccan authorities, marks a major step forward in the country’s growing role in the global electric vehicle supply chain.

Tinci, a key player in advanced battery materials, is aiming to strengthen its global footprint by tapping into Morocco’s expanding industrial ecosystem and strategic location. This new plant is designed to meet rising demand from existing clients while also helping the company broaden its commercial reach.

The initiative is part of a broader national strategy to position Morocco as a key hub for electric mobility. With demand for battery components surging worldwide, the country is increasingly attracting major international players looking to anchor their operations in a stable, competitive, and logistically well-positioned market. Morocco’s growing involvement in the battery sector underlines its ambition to play a central role in the global shift toward clean transportation.
