The partnership between Maroc Telecom and Inwi has officially entered its operational phase, marking a major step forward in Morocco’s digital infrastructure. The two telecom giants have launched Uni Fiber and Uni Tower, two joint ventures aimed at accelerating both the rollout of fiber-optic connections directly to consumers and the expansion of 5G networks across the country.
First announced in March, the creation of these joint companies received regulatory approval from the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency on June 18. With the green light secured, both entities are now moving full steam ahead, backed by a combined investment plan of 4.4 billion dirhams over the next three years.
Uni Fiber will be responsible for building the physical infrastructure needed to support fiber internet services. The goal is ambitious: one million fiber access points within two years and three million by the five-year mark. Meanwhile, Uni Tower will focus on erecting or upgrading 2,000 telecom towers within the next three years, with a longer-term objective of reaching 6,000 towers by 2035.
Importantly, these platforms won’t be exclusive to the founding companies. Instead, they will be open to all licensed telecom operators in Morocco, under conditions that promise fairness, transparency, and strict adherence to national regulations.
Both Maroc Telecom and Inwi have emphasized the crucial role of government support in making this initiative a reality. They reaffirm their joint commitment to helping drive Morocco’s digital transformation and modernizing its connectivity infrastructure for the years ahead.
