The Malaika Center of Marrakech earned a moment of triumph at the 11th edition of CREMAI, an event held under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, by winning the Chef Omar Trophy. This honor, dedicated to chefs living with disabilities, was awarded to young Ilyas Hammami, a representative of the center.

The contest, part of a major trade fair for the food industry, became one of the highlights of the gathering. The announcement of the results was met with visible emotion, as Ilyas and his team impressed the judges with their precision, technical skills, and the spirit of commitment they brought to the competition.

For years, the Malaika Center has worked to promote inclusion for children and young adults with Down syndrome, offering tailored training and pathways to professional integration. This award stands as recognition of a long-standing mission built on respect, dignity, and the celebration of talent.

Association president Darya Mazdaoui praised the organizers, particularly Kamal Rahal and his team, while also highlighting the crucial support provided by the Rahal Group, whose inclusive vision is strongly championed by Karim Rahal.

For Kamal Rahal Essoulami, president of CREMAI, this win carries significance beyond the competition itself. He described it as a reflection of the event’s very purpose: a stage for every kind of talent, without exception. “Through his courage and passion, this winner reminds us that gastronomy is more than an art—it is a universal language,” he said.

For Malaika, the recognition of Ilyas Hammami is more than an award; it is confirmation of the center’s mission to ensure that every young person it supports finds their rightful place in society.
