Dongfeng is opening a new showroom in Casablanca this week. The Chinese car brand is betting that affordable prices and hybrid and electric options will win new customers.
The new site, at 98 Boulevard Moulay Slimane, opens on Thursday. A press conference later that evening will explain the next steps for the company’s growth in Morocco. Dongfeng works locally with Global Chinese Motors and has been in the country since 2022, first selling light commercial vehicles before moving into passenger cars.
The company now sells five models designed for different budgets and needs.
The Shine is the entry-level sedan. Prices start at about 179,000 dirhams. It has a 1.5-litre engine, a top speed of 180 km/h and fuel use of 6.2 litres per 100 km. Inside, there is a 13-inch screen, a 540-degree camera and blind-spot alerts.
The Mage Hybrid is a sporty SUV with 204 horsepower and 305 Nm of torque. It reaches 100 km/h in just over eight seconds and uses 4.9 litres per 100 km. It includes a large sunroof, a 13.2-inch screen and wireless phone charging.
The Huge Hybrid is built for families. It has a wide body, lots of legroom and a special comfort seat for the front passenger. It also offers augmented-reality navigation and advanced driver assistance features, including remote parking.
The Box EV is a fully electric city car. It can travel up to 344 km on a full charge and fast charging takes about 30 minutes to go from 30% to 80%. It can also power external devices such as laptops.
The Shine Max Hybrid is the more premium sedan. It produces 177 horsepower, uses 4.3 litres per 100 km and has a large boot for long trips. Prices start at about 237,995 dirhams after discounts.
The Casablanca showroom follows earlier openings in Tangier and Ksar El Kebir. Dongfeng wants 20 sales points across Morocco by the end of 2026 and is recruiting new dealers in 15 cities.
Customers are offered a three-year or 200,000 km warranty and a mobile workshop service that can come to their home. With a bigger presence in Casablanca, Dongfeng is trying to position itself as a good-value option with petrol, hybrid and electric cars.
