Casablanca is set to host Morocco in Music, a major cultural event celebrating the depth and diversity of Moroccan music.

The concert will take place on 12 February at 8:30 pm at the Mohamed Zefzaf Theatre. It marks the opening of the 2026 cultural season of the Moroccan Association of Andalusian Music, AMMA.

The programme brings together several major musical traditions. These include Andalusian music, Chgouri, Gharnati, traditional northern songs and Samaâ, all performed in a single concert.

The guest of honour is Abderrahim Souiri, one of the most recognised figures in Moroccan Andalusian music. He is being honoured for his long career and his role in passing this tradition on to younger generations.

Also performing is Coco Diam’s, known for promoting Judeo-Moroccan song. He will perform works by Sami El Maghribi, Albert Souissa and Mouizou, and will appear alongside tenor Bilal El Haouaj in a mixed repertoire.

The concert will be led by the Tetouan Andalusian Music Orchestra, under the direction of Fahd Ben Kirane.

Organisers say the Morocco in Music concert aims to draw attention to how music plays a key part in Morocco’s cultural identity and shared heritage.

The event is held under the supervision of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication, with support from the National Lottery and Oulmès Mineral Waters. Both sponsors say their backing reflects a wider commitment to promoting culture and preserving Morocco’s intangible heritage.

In a statement, the National Lottery said all its proceeds are reinvested in social and cultural projects across Morocco.

AMMA’s president and founder, Fatima Mabchour, said the goal of the event is to connect generations and musical styles, and to ensure Moroccan music continues to be heard in all its forms.
