The 17th El Jadida Horse Show will hold a series of scientific and cultural conferences on October 16, bringing together researchers, veterinarians, horse professionals and enthusiasts to discuss the latest issues affecting the equine sector.
The conferences are part of this year’s event, held under the theme “The Horse in the Service of Humanity.”
The first session will focus on horse health and welfare. Speakers will discuss the growth of equine-assisted therapy in Morocco, along with hydrotherapy and new rehabilitation methods used to improve horse care.
The second session will look at the horse’s place in Moroccan history and culture. Topics include the role of horses in the Sherifian Mehalla, the physical and mental benefits of horse riding, and efforts to preserve equestrian archives and terminology.
The final session, organised with the Moroccan Association of Equine Veterinarians, will focus on veterinary medicine. Experts will present the latest developments in genetics, surgery and diagnostic tools.
The conferences are part of the El Jadida Horse Show’s wider programme to promote knowledge sharing across the equine sector. They also aim to support better horse welfare and sustainable growth in the industry.
The Association du Salon du Cheval organises the annual event under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. Chaired by Charif Moulay Abdellah Alaoui, the association was founded in 2008 and works with public institutions, including the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Horse (SOREC), to support the equine industry and preserve traditional equestrian arts such as Tbourida.
The event takes place at the Mohammed VI Exhibition Park in El Jadida. It attracts more than 200,000 visitors every year and features over 100 exhibitors from more than 40 countries, more than 1,000 horses, over 300 professional riders and more than 150 accredited journalists.
Partners and exhibitors include OCP, Banque Centrale Populaire (BCP), ONCF, the Royal Guard, the Royal Armed Forces, the Ministry of Agriculture and international delegations.
The El Jadida stage has been upgraded from a CSI4*W competition to a CSI5*W World Cup qualifier. The new status puts the event among the world’s top show jumping competitions and is expected to attract more international riders, broadcasters, sponsors and businesses.
