Airbus leverages Moroccan expertise to boost aircraft production

Airbus is ramping up its aircraft production with ambitious plans to reach 75 planes per month by 2026, as announced by Patrick Derderian, Airbus’s Director of International Cooperation for Africa, during his visit to the Airbus Atlantic Morocco Composites plant in Nouaceur. He praised the high quality of the Moroccan workforce, which constitutes 100% of the plant’s staff.

Having established its presence in Morocco in 1951, Airbus has significantly deepened its commitment in recent decades to foster the local aerospace industry. The Nouaceur plant, which specializes in producing composite parts for A320 aircraft, currently employs nearly 1,000 people and plans to hire an additional 200 employees in 2024. The parts manufactured at this facility, ranging from cockpits to overhead bins, are shipped to France for final assembly.

Housni Faek, the General Manager of Airbus Atlantic Morocco Composites, emphasized the plant’s expertise and innovation, which play a crucial role in enhancing the excellence of the Moroccan aerospace industry. The facility, covering 30,000 square meters with 17,000 square meters dedicated to workshops, is a key supplier for Airbus, particularly for the A320 cockpit components.

Airbus views Morocco as a strategic partner, with developed centers of excellence in various sectors such as electronics and assembly. Formerly known as STELIA Aerospace Maroc, the subsidiary has continued to expand, inaugurating a new 15,000-square-meter factory in 2014 at Midparc, increasing its total workforce to 1,000 employees.
