Passengers are now spending much less time at passport control in airports across Morocco. Border checks became much faster during the first half of 2026, with waiting times falling by up to 70% at some airports even as passenger numbers continued to grow.
Average departure processing time across the country’s airports dropped to 3.6 minutes, down 24% from the first half of 2025. Average arrival time fell to 9.6 minutes, a 22% improvement.
Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport saw the biggest gains. Passengers arriving at the airport spent an average of 5.4 minutes at passport control, compared with about 12 minutes a year earlier. Departure processing time fell from around 7.5 minutes to just 2.25 minutes, a 70% drop.
Marrakech Menara Airport also reduced waiting times. Average arrival processing time reached 6.86 minutes, down 16%, while departure time fell to 5.09 minutes, a 22.5% decrease.
Other airports also reported faster processing. Arrival time at Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport fell to 11.93 minutes, a 52% improvement. Fes Airport recorded one of the fastest departure times in the network at just 1.53 minutes. Agadir Airport kept average arrival processing time below 10 minutes.
ONDA said the improvements came as air traffic continued to grow.
“The indicators recorded during the first half of 2026 show a tangible improvement in border crossing times, reflecting the effectiveness of the measures adopted to facilitate passengers’ journeys while supporting the strong growth in air traffic,” the airport operator said.
The office credited the results to close coordination between airport partners, especially the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the Ministry of the Interior, which improved border control while maintaining high safety and security standards.
ONDA wants airports across the country to become a regional benchmark for service quality and operational efficiency under its Airports 2030 strategy, which focuses on improving the passenger experience.
