AKDITAL has completed the purchase of a majority stake in Al Bishri Hospital in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. The hospital will now operate as AKDITAL Makkah Al Mukarramah. The deal follows a memorandum of understanding signed in December 2025 and the completion of the required regulatory and operational steps.
AKDITAL is expanding its presence in Saudi Arabia after opening its first hospital in Riyadh earlier this month.
“The finalization of this acquisition marks the transition from a strategic ambition to a concrete realization,” said AKDITAL chairman and chief executive Rochdi Talib.
“AKDITAL Makkah Al Mukarramah will occupy a central place in our development in Saudi Arabia. Our goal is to make it a benchmark hospital facility combining medical excellence, patient safety, quality of service, and deep integration into the local healthcare ecosystem.”
The group has started renovation and expansion work at the Mecca hospital. The number of beds will increase from 120 to 126.
The hospital will have 19 emergency reception stations, including two resuscitation units. It will also have 18 general intensive care beds, eight cardiology intensive care beds, seven neonatal intensive care beds and 13 nursery beds.
The facility will include seven main operating theatres, one obstetrics operating room, one endoscopy room and four delivery rooms. It will also have radiology services and a medical laboratory.
The hospital will offer cardiology, interventional cardiology, general surgery, intensive care, obstetrics and gynaecology, and emergency care.
The facility will serve people living in Mecca as well as pilgrims visiting the city throughout the year.
“Mecca presents unique healthcare needs: it must meet the requirements of its resident population while welcoming an increasing number of pilgrims year-round,” said Shady AlMasry, AKDITAL’s medical director in Saudi Arabia.
“The Kingdom received over 18 million international Umrah and Hajj pilgrims in 2025 and aims to expand its capacity to 30 million per year by 2030. In this context, AKDITAL Makkah Al Mukarramah will deliver real added value to the Holy City.”
AKDITAL received approval from the Saudi Ministry of Health to establish and operate healthcare facilities in the Kingdom.
The company now has 45 healthcare facilities across 26 cities in Morocco, with 4,864 beds and 10,256 employees. It has been listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange since December 2022.
