Morocco has taken a major step forward in digital education with the launch of a new master’s program in Data and Artificial Intelligence. Unveiled in Rabat this week, the initiative is the result of a collaboration between the Al Mada Foundation and the National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications (INPT). It’s the first program of its kind in the country, combining rigorous academic training with real-world business experience.

Structured over two years, the program is open to students who hold a bachelor’s degree in a scientific field. The first year is built around a shared curriculum, while the second focuses on specialization. What sets this master’s apart is its groundbreaking paid apprenticeship model—never before implemented at the national level—which allows students to alternate between classroom instruction and hands-on work in a company setting.

Thirty students were chosen to form the inaugural class after a highly selective admissions process. Their coursework began on September 22, and by January 2026, they’ll be embedded in host companies where they’ll apply what they’ve learned in real-time professional environments. The program is backed by four major industry players: Attijariwafa bank, inwi, Managem, and Marjane Group, all of which are partnering with INPT to provide mentorship and support throughout the two-year journey.

The entire cost of the program is fully funded by the Al Mada Foundation and its corporate partners. The teaching team includes both academic researchers and industry professionals, with a curriculum designed around real business cases. A significant emphasis is also placed on developing soft skills, ensuring students are not only technically proficient but also prepared for leadership and collaboration.

Beyond just technical expertise, this master’s program aims to cultivate professionals who understand the broader strategic, social, and ethical implications of data and artificial intelligence. It’s part of a broader national vision to place Moroccan talent at the forefront of the country’s digital transformation.
