Africa Morocco Link (AML), a leader in Moroccan maritime transport, has announced the launch of its new RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) service, connecting the ports of Tanger Med (Morocco) and Algeciras (Spain). This strategic move is aimed at boosting Moroccan exports, enhancing TIR (international road transport) traffic, and streamlining commercial exchanges between Europe and Morocco.
The new RoRo service caters specifically to the transport of unaccompanied units such as semi-trailers, alongside private vehicles, agricultural machinery, construction equipment, and other rolling stock that meet the technical requirements of this transport mode.
AML’s RoRo service operates daily, with one departure per day from each port. The company plans to increase the frequency of these rotations based on growing demand.
The service is operated by the Kaunas vessel, a ship well-suited to the technical and traffic specifications of this route. With a capacity of 96 units, the Kaunas is particularly effective for transporting trucks with drivers, especially during peak TIR traffic, as requested by port authorities. This allows for efficient management of loading and unloading operations at both Tanger Med and Algeciras.
The launch of this RoRo service aligns with AML’s broader strategic vision. Earlier this summer, the company expanded its offerings with the fast ferry line between Tanger Ville and Tarifa. By introducing the RoRo service, AML continues to diversify its portfolio to meet the specific needs of different market segments, offering shippers and transporters a competitive and tailored freight transport solution.
