AMMA kicks off 2024-2025 with Andalusian music concert in Casablanca

The Moroccan Association of Andalusian Music (AMMA) will inaugurate its 2024-2025 cultural season with a concert at the Palais du Méchouar in Casablanca this Friday. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and in partnership with Casablanca Events & Animation and the territorial brand “Wecasablanca,” the event will celebrate Morocco’s rich traditional musical heritage, according to a statement from AMMA.

Themed “Moroccan Musical Heritage: An Odyssey of Regional Influences at the Heart of Cultural Wealth,” the concert will feature the prestigious Andalusian orchestra of Fès, led by the renowned maestro Mohamed Briouel. Joining the orchestra will be the talented singer and researcher Majda El Yahyaoui and the prodigious Chaimae Imrane.

The concert program will include a variety of musical styles, such as Andalusian music, Melhoun, Northern Moroccan songs, and Samaa, offering an immersive journey into Morocco’s vibrant cultural landscape. AMMA’s guests will experience an artistic voyage, exploring the rhythms and colors that define Moroccan music’s deep roots and diverse influences.

“We are thrilled to launch this new cultural season, reaffirming our dedication to preserving and celebrating Moroccan musical heritage,” said Fatima Mabchour, President and Founder of AMMA. She added, “Our goal is to showcase the richness of traditional Moroccan music both nationally and internationally, through artistic experiences that reflect the grandeur and uniqueness of Moroccan culture.”

Since its founding, AMMA has remained committed to preserving and promoting Moroccan musical traditions. Despite being a relatively young organization, AMMA has energized Casablanca’s cultural scene by hosting exceptional events with both national and international artists, helping to promote Moroccan music as a universal cultural ambassador.

The event is also supported by Morocco’s national lottery, which dedicates all of its revenue to social and solidarity actions. “By supporting cultural promotion, the national lottery contributes to the development of Morocco’s economic and social landscape,” said the Société de gestion de la loterie nationale (SGLN).
