Agadir will host some of Africa’s biggest culinary competitions from 22 to 24 September, with chefs and pastry professionals from six countries competing for places at the world finals in Lyon. The fourth edition of TOC Afrique will bring together the Bocuse d’Or Afrique, the Coupe d’Afrique de la Pâtisserie and La Liste Afrique.
The main events will take place at the Palais des congrès Les Dunes d’Or. The La Liste Afrique awards will be held at Domaine Limoune on 22 September.
The pastry competition will take place on 23 September. The Bocuse d’Or Afrique will follow on 24 September.
Teams will have five hours and 30 minutes to complete their technical challenges under professional judging.
Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Mauritius will compete in the pastry competition. Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire and Mauritius will compete in the Bocuse d’Or Afrique.
The top three teams in the pastry competition will qualify for the World Pastry Cup final in Lyon in January 2027.
Morocco will enter Abdessamad Dandani in the Bocuse d’Or Afrique, with Ahmed El Hilali as commis, Issam Rhachi as coach and Rachid Maftouh as team president.
El Mehdi Benbiga will compete in the chocolate category of the pastry competition, while Mourad Msour will compete in the sugar category. Mohamed El Yazidi will lead the team as president.
TOC Afrique also includes La Liste Afrique, which recognises leading restaurants and culinary professionals across the continent.
The event is organised by Rahal Event under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI. Regional partners include the Souss-Massa Region, Taghazout Bay, Marriott Taghazout Bay and Radisson Residence.
The previous edition took place in Marrakech in September 2024. Morocco won both main competitions. Yassine Bogdad led the winning Bocuse d’Or team, while Mohamed Lamraoui and Omar Eddib won the pastry competition.
