BANK OF AFRICA and its IT subsidiary, Eurafric Information, have set a new benchmark in sustainability by securing the prestigious ISO 50001 certification for their Data Center. This milestone, the first of its kind in Morocco and Africa, underscores the bank’s commitment to responsible and efficient energy management.
Awarded by Bureau Veritas and the Moroccan Institute for Standardization (IMANOR), the certification acknowledges the implementation of a highly optimized energy management system. The BANK OF AFRICA Data Center operates with state-of-the-art, low-energy consumption equipment and actively integrates renewable energy sources into its operations. With a strong focus on sustainability, the bank aims to meet over 30% of its energy needs through solar power, marking a major step toward greener banking infrastructure.
This achievement is part of a larger sustainability strategy. In January 2025, BANK OF AFRICA successfully renewed the certification of its Integrated Management System, which includes ISO 50001 for energy efficiency, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 45001 for health and safety at work. A joint audit conducted by Bureau Veritas and IMANOR validated the bank’s adherence to international standards, reinforcing its leadership in sustainable governance.
Under the leadership of Othman Benjelloun, BANK OF AFRICA has embedded sustainability at the core of its corporate strategy, fully aligning with Morocco’s National Low-Carbon Strategy. This certification is more than a recognition—it reflects the bank’s ambition to innovate while reducing its environmental footprint.
By securing the ISO 50001 certification, BANK OF AFRICA and Eurafric Information reaffirm their dedication to combining performance with energy transition while cementing their leadership in Africa’s banking sector.
