Casablanca will host a new event focused on Africa’s aviation industry next year as organisers look to bring together governments, airlines, airport operators and investors from across the continent. The first edition of Global Aviation Africa (GAA) will take place from 24 to 26 March 2027 at the Casablanca International Exhibition Park. The event follows a partnership between exhibition organiser MIE Events and international events company Niche Ideas.

Organisers say the event will become a meeting place for public officials, airport operators, airlines, financial institutions, investors and aviation technology companies.

The agreement was signed in Dubai by David Wang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MIE Events, and Daksha Patel, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Niche Ideas.

Africa’s aviation industry is growing as countries invest in new airports and expand existing ones to handle more passengers, boost trade and improve connections across the continent.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) says Africa handled about 2.1% of global air passenger traffic in 2024, despite being home to nearly 19% of the world’s population. Passenger demand is expected to more than double over the next 20 years.

The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) says aviation supports around 8.1 million jobs across Africa and contributes about $75 billion to the continent’s economy.

Global Aviation Africa will focus on airport investment, aviation technology, sustainability, air connectivity and international partnerships.

Government officials, business leaders, industry experts and investors from Africa and other regions are expected to attend discussions on the industry’s biggest challenges and new investment opportunities.

MIE Events chose Casablanca after consulting Moroccan public and private sector organisations through its subsidiary, Global Exhibition Morocco, to assess whether the city could host the new event.
