CGEM delegation strengthens economic ties with Moroccan entrepreneurs in Canada

A delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) visited Quebec for a working trip and held discussions with Moroccan entrepreneurs based in Canada. The meeting, which took place in Montreal on Monday evening, was attended by Morocco’s ambassador to Canada, Souriya Otmani, and highlighted the significant business and investment opportunities available in Morocco.

CGEM President Chakib Alj emphasized the importance of utilizing the expertise of Moroccan entrepreneurs in Canada to contribute to Morocco’s socio-economic development, in line with the vision of King Mohammed VI. Alj showcased Morocco’s accomplishments in infrastructure, innovation, and business environment, along with notable progress in renewable energy, the automotive, and aerospace industries. He underscored that now is an ideal time to invest in Morocco, especially with the upcoming opportunities that will arise from hosting the 2030 World Cup.

Ambassador Souriya Otmani noted that the visit by the CGEM delegation serves as a valuable opportunity to further strengthen economic ties between Morocco and Quebec, and more broadly, Morocco and Canada. She also highlighted the special attention King Mohammed VI gives to the Moroccan diaspora, especially in terms of encouraging their investments and initiatives back in the homeland.

During the meeting, Moroccan entrepreneurs in Canada were briefed on investment opportunities in Morocco, its strategic role as a gateway to Africa, and the legislative framework that supports foreign investment.

The CGEM delegation’s visit to Quebec, co-organized with the Quebec Employers’ Council, includes meetings with various economic players and visits to companies in key sectors such as aerospace, agri-food, and artificial intelligence. The goal of the tour is to explore potential avenues for strengthening economic ties between Morocco and Quebec, tapping into synergies across these growing industries.
