Buying groceries, paying for a meal or shopping could become a little simpler for CIH Bank customers, as the bank brings Samsung’s mobile payment service to its cardholders in Morocco. CIH Bank has partnered with Samsung Electronics Maghreb Arab and Visa to introduce Samsung Wallet, a mobile payment service that allows users to make contactless payments with compatible Samsung Galaxy devices.

The service was unveiled in Casablanca on Tuesday, 3 November 2026. It is being rolled out gradually to CIH Bank customers with eligible Visa debit and credit cards.

Customers can add their bank cards to the Samsung Wallet app and pay at compatible shop terminals by holding their phones or smartwatches near the payment reader. They do not need to present a physical bank card.

Samsung says payments and stored card details are protected by Samsung Knox, its security platform built into Galaxy devices. The service also uses biometric authentication, such as fingerprint or facial recognition.

Samsung Wallet can also store digital boarding passes, loyalty cards, promotional coupons and digital car keys for supported vehicle models.

“With this launch, CIH Bank takes part, alongside Visa, in the introduction of a new contactless payment service in Morocco, accessible directly from compatible connected devices,” the bank said.

Hongseok Lee, president of Samsung Electronics Maghreb Arab, said the aim was to make everyday transactions easier for Galaxy users. He also highlighted the role of local financial partners in encouraging people to adopt digital payments.

Customers with supported Galaxy devices can access the service as it becomes available. The app can be installed through standard application platforms.

The launch adds to CIH Bank’s growing range of mobile payment options. The bank already offers its own CIH Pay service through the CIH Mobile app, alongside support for Apple Pay and Google Pay.

CIH Bank has also been expanding its digital services beyond everyday payments.

Its partnership with Moroccan property technology company Yakeey allows customers to browse verified property listings and start mortgage applications directly through the CIH Mobile app.

The bank has also worked with Backbase, a digital banking technology provider, to modernise its banking infrastructure. The upgrade is designed to support faster transactions, more personalised services and easier connections with other digital platforms.

Younger customers are another focus. Its CODE30 product range offers digital accounts designed for young Moroccans, with features such as instant card digitisation, transfers between users, adjustable online spending limits and bill payments.

Customers can also manage payments for everyday services, including telephone bills, utilities and taxes, through their smartphones.

CIH Bank has extended digital payments to transport and public services. Its systems support payments through regional utility platforms and services such as recharging toll accounts for Autoroutes du Maroc.
