Morocco’s sugar company Cosumar reported a small rise in sales in 2025, helped by stronger local sugar production and exports.
Total revenue reached 10.49 billion dirhams ($1.05bn), up 2.4% from 2024. In the last three months of the year, sales stayed around 2.45 billion dirhams, similar to the same period in 2024.
White sugar production jumped 47% to 280,000 tonnes, up from 191,000 tonnes the previous year. The increase came despite low rainfall, thanks to closer work with farmers and better crop monitoring.
Exports grew after upgrades at the Sidi Bennour refinery, which now runs all year. This lets Cosumar process more sugar and keep its place in the international market even when conditions abroad are tough.
The company invested 245 million dirhams mainly in improving its factories, while debt fell to 206 million dirhams.
Looking ahead, the new 2025–2026 planting season is going well, helped by recent rain in key farming areas like Gharb and Doukkala.
Cosumar also plans a project at its Casablanca refinery to cut carbon emissions and make better use of resources.
