COVID-19: Government Spokesperson Calls for Compliance with Preventive Measures

The Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson Mustapha Baitas, on Thursday said that the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom “is not reassuring,” calling for compliance with preventive measures to limit the spread of the coronavirus

“The government notes indeed an increase in COVID-19 cases. We have moved from a comfortable situation to another that is not reassuring,” warned the minister in response to a question at a press briefing after the Council of Government, held under the chairmanship of Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch.

The official called for citizens to wear masks and respect preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus, noting that the government will closely monitor this issue in light of the current situation, characterized by the arrival of summer and the return of Moroccans from around the world.

“Hopefully, the government will not be forced to take undesirable measures,” concluded Baitas.

The coordinator of the National Center for Emergency Public Health Operations at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Mouad Mrabet, had said, on Tuesday, that the COVID-19 community circulation had shifted from the low green vigilance level to medium orange, especially in major cities.
