During the government council held on Thursday, September 12, Driss Bencheikh was officially named Director General of the Office des Changes. He had been acting as the interim head of the institution since April, following the departure of Hassan Boulaknadal, who moved on to lead the CIMR (Caisse Interprofessionnelle Marocaine de Retraite).
Bencheikh’s journey with the Office des Changes began back in June 2016, when he was selected as Secretary General following an open call for candidates. His background as an economist and his strong experience within the organization have made him a key figure within the institution. Prior to taking on his current role, he worked as an inspector in the Office’s inspection unit and, in May 2011, was promoted to Head of the Audit and Management Control Department.
Notably, Bencheikh’s appointment marks him as the youngest Director General to ever lead the Office des Changes, a testament to his expertise and rapid rise through the ranks. His leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Office, at a time when economic and financial regulations are more crucial than ever for the country.
