The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has set five priorities for businesses ahead of the 23 September legislative elections.
The priorities focus on investment, business competitiveness, support for small and medium-sized companies, jobs and exports.
CGEM president Mehdi Tazi presented the priorities at a board meeting in Casablanca. He said private companies, especially small and medium-sized businesses, would be important for creating jobs and supporting economic growth.
The federation wants to:
- increase private investment and expand local industry
- help companies become more competitive and move into higher-value activities
- give more support to small and medium-sized businesses
- create more jobs and improve vocational training
- help local companies enter new foreign markets and increase exports
CGEM has also met political parties taking part in the elections. The meetings focused on concerns raised by private companies and the economic programmes proposed by the parties.
The federation is preparing a set of policy measures that it plans to present to the next government.
The board also completed the federation’s structure for the 2026-2029 term.
Members approved the leaders of 22 thematic commissions, covering areas such as finance, taxation, industry, foreign trade, artificial intelligence, start-ups, skills and business conditions.
The commissions will be responsible for carrying out CGEM’s programme for the 2026-2029 term.
