Music fans in Morocco will see French rapper Ninho open the Festival Mawazine-Rythmes du Monde in Rabat on 19 June, organisers confirm. The performance will launch one of the world’s largest free music festivals and mark the start of nine days of concerts across Rabat and Salé.
The announcement was made by the Maroc Cultures Association, which runs the event under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI. Ninho will perform on the international stage at OLM Souissi on the opening night.
Born William Nzobazola in 1996, Ninho rose to prominence after his 2016 mixtape M.I.L.S.. He has since released four diamond-certified albums, placing him among the most successful artists in francophone music.
Organisers say the booking reflects the strong popularity of rap among young audiences in Morocco. His music combines punchline-driven rap with melodic trap production.
The 2025 edition attracted 3.75 million visitors. High attendance is expected again this year.
Around 90% of concerts will remain free, continuing the festival’s policy of wide public access.
Mawazine also supports tourism, hospitality and transport while helping develop Morocco’s music and live production sectors.
The programme will include Arab artists, world music performers and Moroccan acts. Ninho’s show is the first major announcement for the 2026 edition.
Concerts will take place at several venues, including the Bouregreg stage near the Bouregreg River and the historic Chellah site. More artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
