The fifth Board of Directors meeting of the Arts et Métiers School in Rabat took place on December 16, 2024, at the institution’s headquarters. Chaired by Ryad Mezzour, Morocco’s Minister of Industry and Trade, the meeting brought together key stakeholders, including Laurent Champaney, General Director of Arts et Métiers ParisTech, and Mohamed Khalfaoui, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation.
This prestigious institution was born out of a partnership between the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade and Arts et Métiers in France. Its mission is to support the rise of Morocco’s industrial sector by training highly skilled engineers and professionals while fostering research and innovation. The school aims to become a benchmark in higher education in Morocco and a leading technological hub for the African continent.
Since its inauguration in September 2023, Arts et Métiers Rabat has made remarkable strides. Students are offered two main programs: an engineering degree through the Grande École curriculum and a bachelor’s degree in technologies for the industry of the future, paired with a professional license issued by Arts et Métiers. These programs gained official recognition from the Moroccan government and the approval of France’s Commission des Titres d’Ingénieurs, allowing the school to deliver the prestigious Grande École engineering diploma locally.
The opening of a modern 12,000 square meter facility within the UM6P campus in Technopolis, Salé, marked a significant milestone in 2024. Designed to align with global industrial trends, the campus is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to ensure an advanced learning environment. This year also saw the integration of two new student cohorts and the expansion of teaching staff and researchers to meet growing demand.
Looking ahead to 2025, the school plans to increase its enrollment to 190 students and establish advanced platforms like the Evolutive Learning Factory. This facility is designed to simulate real industrial environments, providing students with practical, hands-on experience. Strengthened partnerships with industrial leaders will further position Arts et Métiers Rabat as a key player in research, innovation, and solutions tailored to the needs of modern industries.
During the board meeting, Minister Ryad Mezzour toured the school’s facilities and observed its innovative teaching methods and advanced equipment. He emphasized Morocco’s reliance on its young talent as a cornerstone for building a competitive and prosperous economy. In his discussions with students, he encouraged them to see themselves as trailblazers who will bridge the gap between academic excellence and industrial innovation.
Arts et Métiers Rabat represents more than an educational institution. It is a strategic initiative designed to address Morocco’s and Africa’s industrial challenges. By equipping students with globally relevant skills and fostering a culture of innovation, the school is preparing the workforce of tomorrow. This collaboration between Morocco and France reflects a shared vision of sustainable development and economic progress, where education plays a pivotal role in shaping a resilient and forward-thinking future.
