India is planning to get more involved in Morocco’s car industry. Speaking at a press conference in Rabat on Friday, India’s Ambassador to Morocco, Sanjay Rana, said the new project will make very pure copper and aluminium locally, which car factories need.

This should help Morocco rely less on imports and make more parts at home.

Indian companies are already active in the country’s car market. Tata Systems has a factory in Berrechid and is now making fully built cars in Morocco. The new copper and aluminium plant will supply local carmakers with the materials they need, helping them produce more and create jobs.

Mr Rana said this is part of a bigger push by Indian businesses to invest in Morocco. They are also looking at tech, medicine, and defence projects.
