June sets new record for tourist arrivals in Morocco

The national tourism sector in Morocco continues to thrive. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy, tourist arrivals reached 7.4 million by the end of June 2024, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year.

“Moroccan tourism maintains its upward trajectory, as evidenced by the exceptional growth in the first half of 2024. The numbers speak for themselves: 7.4 million visitors crossed Moroccan borders, representing a 14% increase from 2023 and a spectacular 38% jump compared to 2019,” the ministry stated in a press release.

The enthusiasm for Morocco as a destination has surpassed all expectations. With a goal of attracting an additional one million tourists for the entire year of 2024, Morocco has already welcomed 909,000 additional visitors in just six months.

June saw a record arrival of 1.5 million tourists, a 10% increase from 2023, and the summer season looks equally promising.

In this context, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, emphasized Morocco’s undeniable prominence on the international tourism stage.

“Our country’s unique assets combined with the implementation of our strategic roadmap are bearing fruit. Our goal of 17.5 million tourists is closer than ever,” Ammor stated.
