In line with its sustainability-driven corporate social responsibility (CSR) approach and its decarbonization roadmap for 2030, Lesieur Cristal has partnered with Nareva Services, a leading player in renewable energy and a subsidiary of Nareva Group. This collaboration aims to install a 2 MW photovoltaic solar power plant at the Ain Harrouda factory, demonstrating Lesieur Cristal’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable industrial practices.
This ambitious project will see the installation of 3,175 photovoltaic panels covering 1.5 hectares, which will reduce Lesieur Cristal’s annual energy consumption by 12 percent. The initiative supports the company’s decarbonization strategy, targeting a 34 percent reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2020 levels.
Brahim Laroui, CEO of Lesieur Cristal, emphasized the importance of this milestone in the company’s sustainability journey. “This partnership with Nareva Services marks a significant step in our decarbonization strategy. We are committed to contributing to Morocco’s energy transition while strengthening our competitiveness and environmental stewardship.”
Norddine Moukhlisse, Deputy CEO of Nareva Services, echoed this sentiment. “We are delighted to collaborate with Lesieur Cristal, a national leader in the agri-food sector, on a solar power project that meets advanced technical and environmental standards. This initiative reflects our shared ambition to foster a greener, more responsible economy.”
The Ain Harrouda solar plant is part of a broader plan to integrate renewable energy solutions across Lesieur Cristal’s other facilities. This initiative aligns with the company’s long-term vision to incorporate sustainability at every level of its operations. By 2030, Lesieur Cristal aims to ensure that over 75 percent of its soybean and palm oil supply chains are traceable, with raw materials sourced from sustainable farming practices.
Additionally, the company is advancing its commitment to circular economy principles. By repurposing by-products such as kernels and olive pomace into biomass fuel for industrial boilers, Lesieur Cristal is reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and lowering its carbon footprint.
The collaboration between Lesieur Cristal and Nareva Services not only highlights their dedication to decarbonization but also sets a benchmark for innovative climate action within Morocco’s industrial sector. By adopting renewable energy technologies and sustainable sourcing practices, Lesieur Cristal reinforces its role as a responsible corporate leader.
