Moroccan automotive industry showcases expertise in Istanbul

Representatives of the Moroccan automotive industry are exploring cooperation opportunities with their Turkish and international counterparts while showcasing their products and services at the “Automechanika Istanbul 2024” international trade fair, which opened its doors on Thursday.

The Moroccan participation in this international event (May 23-26), organized by the Turkish group Tüyap Exhibitions in partnership with the German Frankfurt Fair (Messe Frankfurt), provides an opportunity for Moroccan manufacturers to promote their skills and the progress made by the automotive industry in Morocco in recent years, as well as to highlight the “Made in Morocco” label. Morocco holds a prominent position at the fair with a large stand set up by the Moroccan Association for the Automotive Industry and Trade (AMICA), bringing together about ten companies operating in various sectors of the industry, including spare parts, electrical wiring, and vehicle components.

In a statement to MAP, Adil Rais, head of the spare parts sector at AMICA, emphasized the importance of Moroccan companies participating in major international fairs to showcase their expertise. Moroccan sector players are now looking to open up to new markets, particularly in Eastern Europe and the Middle East, while strengthening their position in their traditional markets, Rais explained, affirming that Moroccan manufacturers are capable of producing high-quality products and exporting them worldwide.

The AMICA stand at “Automechanika Istanbul” is open and shared by the Moroccan companies present, to highlight the “close relationship” that unites the automotive industry actors in the Kingdom, he added, ensuring that the combined efforts of all these actors will help strengthen the sector’s export figures. In recent years, Morocco has successfully established a solid industrial base in the automotive sector, supported by a developed logistical infrastructure including major ports such as Tanger Med, as well as road transport players with extensive expertise in shipping automotive industry products to Europe, Rais elaborated.

The “Automechanika Istanbul” fair is one of the leading global events in the automotive industry, bringing together more than 1,400 exhibitors from 41 countries. The organizers expect to welcome more than 60,000 professionals during this edition.
