Morocco and the United Kingdom are strengthening their ties in tourism, following a high-level meeting in Rabat between Moroccan Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, and UK Ambassador Alexander Giles Pinfield. Held on January 22 at the Ministry’s headquarters, the discussion centered on deepening bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, underpinned by longstanding diplomatic ties and mutual respect.
During the meeting, Minister Ammor praised the UK’s continued support for Morocco’s autonomy plan and highlighted the strategic importance of the British market for Moroccan tourism. She outlined the progress made under the 2023–2026 national tourism roadmap, focusing in particular on enhancing air connectivity between the two countries. Morocco’s active participation in London’s World Travel Market—one of the tourism industry’s key global events—was also highlighted as a sign of the country’s commitment to growing its presence in the UK market.
Ambassador Pinfield, for his part, commended Morocco’s steady development, pointing to its strong infrastructure, rapidly expanding tourism sector, and proven ability to host major international events. He emphasized that the relationship between the two kingdoms is not only politically sound but also economically promising.
Both sides expressed a shared determination to take the partnership further, particularly through British investment in Morocco’s hospitality and leisure sectors. They also discussed expanding cooperation in training and education for tourism professionals, recognizing human capital as a key pillar for sustainable industry growth.
