Morocco’s banking sector says it is ready to support people and businesses hit by recent floods across several regions of the country.
In a statement, the Professional Grouping of Banks of Morocco (GPBM) said banks were working with authorities to ensure continuity of essential banking services and to assist customers affected by the flooding.
Banks said branches, cash machines and digital channels were being deployed in affected areas to maintain access to basic services. Targeted communication measures have also been put in place to inform and guide impacted customers.
The sector said it would provide exceptional, case-by-case support to floods victims, including individuals and companies, with measures adapted to each situation.
Banks also said they were taking steps to protect staff, ensuring their safety while allowing services to continue under appropriate conditions.
The GPBM said Moroccan banks remained fully committed to supporting affected communities during what it described as a difficult period.
