Morocco is kicking off 2025 with a record-breaking achievement, welcoming 1.2 million tourists in January alone—a historic first for the country. This figure represents a 27% increase compared to January 2024, with 272,000 additional visitors. The milestone highlights Morocco’s rising status as a global tourism powerhouse.
Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, expressed her pride in the accomplishment:
“This historic record of more than a million tourists in January establishes Morocco as a true year-round destination. Our strategy emphasizes enhancing the tourist experience across all seasons and regions, offering visitors authentic and enriching journeys throughout the Kingdom.”
This success did not come overnight. It’s the result of years of dedicated efforts to enhance Morocco’s tourism appeal. Key initiatives have focused on upgrading infrastructure and showcasing the country’s diverse cultural heritage. Regional tourism offerings have been expanded, while targeted international marketing campaigns have attracted a growing number of travelers eager to explore Morocco’s unique blend of experiences.
Major tourist hotspots such as Marrakech, Casablanca, Fes, and the southern regions have seen renewed visitor interest. These destinations offer a vibrant mix of heritage, gastronomy, craftsmanship, and sustainable tourism, ensuring there’s something for every traveler, no matter the season.
Efforts have also been concentrated on improving hospitality services. The emphasis on quality, flexibility, and tailored experiences has created a reputation for Morocco as a welcoming and accommodating destination.
With such a strong start, 2025 is shaping up to be a banner year for Moroccan tourism. This achievement positions the country as a key player in the international travel market, leveraging its rich natural, cultural, and historical assets.
The government aims to sustain this momentum by diversifying source markets and continuing to innovate in its tourism offerings. Ongoing investments in transport and hospitality infrastructure will further enhance the quality of experiences for visitors.
Morocco’s success reflects the country’s commitment to promoting resilient, inclusive, and sustainable tourism. As the Kingdom looks to the future, it is steadily cementing its place among the world’s most sought-after travel destinations.
