To mark the 62nd birthday of H.M. King Mohammed VI, Bank Al-Maghrib has released a special commemorative coin made of silver, with a face value of 250 dirhams. This limited-edition piece blends symbolic design with fine craftsmanship, paying tribute to the monarch and Morocco’s cultural heritage.
On one side of the coin, a portrait of the King takes center stage, framed by his name written in both Arabic and Tifinagh scripts. Surrounding the image is the inscription “Kingdom of Morocco” in both alphabets, along with the dual date marking the Gregorian and Hijri years—2025 and 1447.
The reverse side features the Moroccan coat of arms, set above an intricate pattern inspired by traditional zellige tilework. Flanking the design are two olive branches, a symbol often associated with peace and unity. Prominently displayed is the number 62, highlighting the Monarch’s age, along with the coin’s denomination written in both Arabic numerals and script. A commemorative inscription reads: “62nd Anniversary of H.M. King Mohammed VI,” translated from Arabic.
Crafted with precision, the coin is made from 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, weighing 28.28 grams with a diameter of 38.61 millimeters. It features a reeded edge and a polished proof finish, underscoring its status as a collector’s item rather than standard currency.
