Morocco Records 2,668 New COVID-19 Cases over Past 24 Hours

Morocco has recorded 2,668 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the ministry of Health announced Friday, adding that 5,192 COVID-19 patients have recovered within the same period.

A total of 19,884,992 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while the number of fully vaccinated people (1st and 2nd doses) has reached 16,386,208 the ministry pointed out in its daily COVID-19 bulletin.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported since the start of the outbreak of the virus stands at 899,581 while recoveries rise to 849,681, i.e. a recovery rate of 94.5%.

The new COVID-19 cases were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (898), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (560), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (366), the Eastern region (287), Souss-Massa (125), Marrakech-Safi (113), Fez-Meknes (93), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (73), Guelmim-Oued Noun (47), Draa-Tafilalet (41), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (35) and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (30).

As for coronavirus-related deaths, they rose to 13,436 with 66 fatalities reported over the past 24 hours in the regions of Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (16), Casablanca-Settat (14), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (9), Souss-Massa (6), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (6), Draa-Tafilalet (4), Fez-Meknes (3), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (3), Marrakech-Safi (2), the Eastern region (2) and Guelmim-Oued Noun (1), the ministry said, noting that the fatality rate has reached 1.5%.

The number of active cases stands at 36,464 including 1,846 in a critical or severe condition, the ministry added.
