Morocco is set to launch its 5G rollout before the end of 2025, bringing next-generation connectivity to several major cities across the country. The announcement was made Friday in Rabat by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch following a board meeting of the national telecommunications regulatory agency.

The long-term plan aims to extend 5G coverage to 85% of the population by 2030, a key milestone in Morocco’s broader push to modernize its digital infrastructure. Backed by a total investment of 80 billion dirhams, the initiative is expected to significantly enhance the quality of digital services available to both citizens and businesses.

Akhannouch emphasized that the move toward 5G is not just about technology—it’s part of a broader effort to close the digital divide. Working closely with private-sector partners, the government is focusing on boosting the quality of the national network while expanding internet access to meet fast-growing demand.

Rural and remote communities will be a top priority. Akhannouch stressed the importance of addressing underserved regions, particularly mountainous and isolated areas, which have long faced limited connectivity. To that end, a comprehensive map of uncovered zones will be developed to guide targeted efforts and ensure no area is left behind.

This public-private collaboration is designed to strengthen nationwide connectivity and raise the overall standard of telecommunications services across Morocco.
