Morocco’s Groupe Banque Populaire Centrale has posted solid financial results for 2025, with higher profits and growing revenues, keeping its strong position in the local banking market.

The group’s total income rose 5.4% to 27bn dirhams ($2.7bn), while net profit jumped 13.2% to 5.6bn dirhams. Its share of profit increased 8.6% to 4.5bn dirhams.

Total customer funds grew 5.9% to 411.9bn dirhams, and loans rose 3.1% to 329.9bn dirhams. The bank maintained a 24% share of customer deposits and 20% of loans in Morocco.

Domestic deposits grew 4.6% to 327.8bn dirhams, boosted by residents, Moroccans living abroad, and businesses. Around 79% of these deposits are non-interest-bearing, up from 77.9% in 2024, helping the bank lower costs and protect profit margins.

Loans in Morocco rose slightly, up 1.1% to 237.5bn dirhams. Growth focused on corporate lending, especially equipment loans, which rose by 10bn dirhams. Net income from domestic operations grew 7.5% to 17.5bn dirhams.

The cost of risk fell 13.5% to 5.4bn dirhams, reflecting tighter credit control and better recovery of bad debts. Branches in Morocco and abroad contributed about 45% of the group’s total income, highlighting its expanding presence beyond the domestic market.

The bank said the results reflect cost control, digitalisation, and stronger contributions from its African operations, while corporate and investment lending align with Morocco’s push to support productive investment.
