After conquering the highest peaks on every continent, Bouchra Baibanou is setting her sights on one of the most formidable challenges in mountaineering: the ascent of Broad Peak and the notorious K2 in the Himalayas. The Moroccan climber will depart from Casablanca on June 21, with a planned stop in Islamabad before continuing to Skardu, the gateway to the base camps of Pakistan’s highest mountains.
Her first target is Broad Peak, a towering summit that rises to 8,051 meters. If conditions allow, she plans to make her attempt around July 17 or 18. Successfully reaching the top of Broad Peak would be a remarkable feat on its own—but for Bouchra, it’s only the beginning.
Next comes the K2. At 8,611 meters, it’s the second-highest mountain on Earth and considered by many climbers to be the most dangerous. Known as the “Savage Mountain,” K2 demands more than just physical strength—it requires razor-sharp focus, exceptional endurance, and the ability to navigate some of the harshest high-altitude conditions in the world. Bouchra is prepared to launch her summit bid as soon as the weather offers a stable window. If all goes according to plan, she will return to Morocco by August 10, completing an expedition marked by extreme risk and ambition.
But for Bouchra, this journey is about more than reaching summits. It’s a mission grounded in values—resilience, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and environmental responsibility. She climbs not just for herself, but to inspire others to believe that no goal is out of reach if you pursue it with conviction.
This expedition is made possible through the support of several key partners. Veolia Morocco, Redal, and Amendis are her primary sponsors, with backing also from OCP and LafargeHolcim Morocco. Air Arabia is handling her transport, while Karama Solidarity, an organization she represents as an ambassador, is providing technical gear.
Throughout the expedition, Bouchra will share real-time updates from the Himalayas via her social media channels, offering followers a glimpse into the highs, lows, and breathtaking views of her journey.
