Neila Tazi re-elected to key foreign affairs role as councillors choose new leaders

On October 17, 2024, the House of Councillors held a session to elect its bureau members and presidents of the six permanent committees. The session, presided over by Mohamed Ould Errachid, led to the re-election of Neila Tazi (CGEM) as President of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense.

Despite protests from the USFP (Socialist Union of Popular Forces) group, which requested a postponement due to internal disagreements, Ould Errachid proceeded with the session and approved the candidacies in accordance with the chamber’s internal regulations.
