Bank Al-Maghrib has released a new 250-dirham silver coin to mark the 27th anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s accession to the throne.
The commemorative coin went into circulation on Wednesday as part of this year’s Throne Day celebrations.
One side of the coin features a portrait of King Mohammed VI with the inscriptions “Mohammed VI” and “Kingdom of Morocco” in Arabic and Tifinagh, as well as the date “2026-1448”.
The other side shows star-shaped fireworks and the Kingdom’s coat of arms. It also includes the face value of 250 dirhams, the number 27 to mark the anniversary, and the inscriptions in Arabic and French: “27th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.”
The coin is made from 925‰ silver and 75‰ copper. It weighs 28.28g, measures 38.61mm in diameter, has a reeded edge and a proof finish, a minting standard used for collector and commemorative coins
