Morocco will host the 77th FIFA Elective Congress on 18 March 2027 in Rabat. The decision was announced by Gianni Infantino during the 76th FIFA Congress in Vancouver. Members of FIFA approved the choice unanimously.
Around 2,000 delegates from FIFA’s 211 national associations will attend. The meeting will include the election of the FIFA president. Gianni Infantino has confirmed he will run for a fourth term.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation said the decision shows trust in Morocco’s ability to organise major events. Morocco last hosted a FIFA General Assembly in Marrakech in 2005.
Morocco is increasing its role in international sport through hosting events and investing in infrastructure. The country is preparing to host the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 and co-host the FIFA World Cup 2030 with Spain and Portugal.
At the Vancouver meeting, FIFA adopted its 2025 annual report. It includes a record budget of 14bn dollars for the 2027 to 2030 cycle to support football development. Member associations are expected to receive more funding for development programmes.
An Extraordinary Congress will take place on 23 November 2026 to choose the hosts of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2031 and 2035.
